Random Makeup Haul for March 2012

Wow I think I was rambling more than usual in this video.

OCC Lip Tar - S/S 2012 Garden Collection

The Garden Collection was released on 3/23/12 and has 5 lip tars
The color payoff for all of these colors is as always wonderful! I did have a bit of a struggle with Chlorophyll, but other than that WONDERFUL! My favorite is by far Belladonna, but I have worn Digitalis and Ophelia both to work and have gotten a lot of complements on the colors.

Makeup Storage - Video

I shot a quick video showing how I store my makeup. I recently got the 9 drawer Alex unit from Ikea, and I love it!!! Originally I was going to get 2 Helmers, this was because shipping from Ikea for the Alex unit was going to cost an extra $200!! But my loving hubby said we could take a trip up to Ikea and the Container Store, so we made the almost 2 hour drive, found Ikea, got lost in Ikea (that store I swear has its own zip code!!), found the Alex unit and I fell in love! I did look at the Helmers and while I still like them I think they would be better suited for my craft storage vs makeup and nail polish. OH!!

Blog name change and new focus

Some of you may have already noticed that I changed the name of my blog. I changed from "Kizzie's Random Thoughts" to "Kizzie Makeup Princess". I did this because I've made the decision to focus my blog on makeup reviews, I will be throwing in some skin care and hair care products and tips as well.

Since I've finished school and started working again I have found some time to dedicate to my blog. I plan on continuing my education in the field of cosmetology, so I hope to pass on some tips and tricks of the trade to you.

I purchase mostly drug store make up, but I do love the high end brands as well. I have a small Mac collection going, which I love each product because I picked my favorites to purchase.

I really want to grow this blog to be able to pass on the knowledge and to help aide in the purchase of beauty products. I follow many beauty blogs and have found them to be very helpful in my choice of make up and what purchases to avoid, hence saving me money (ok sometimes they ended up in a splurge purchase)

Wow! Its been over a year since my last update!

Ok I really need to get better at updating my blog! A lot has changed for me in over a year, I started school and graduated school in that year. I went to school to become a licensed cosmetologist, and so far I'm doing well on my path. I have completed my 1200 hours of training required by the state of New Jersey, I passed my state written test, and I'm awaiting my test date to go for my practical exam. I work at a salon as an assistant/junior stylist, which means that I help out the other stylists but I can also work on clients.

My husband and I are doing well. We moved in with my parents to try and save money to move into a better place. It has been a very long road since we both lost our jobs in 2009, but I really feel like 2012 will be the year that we can rebuild and move forward.

Sadly I have lost all but one of my ferrets, so Fry is still hanging around, he will be 6 this christmas. My cats are doing fine, for 11 and almost 12 they are as spry as ever!

I've restocked my etsy store, and I'm working to add more items. House of Kiz

I'm going to start buckling down and doing more reviews for products. I will also try to start posting more videos as well. I have grown my makeup and nail polish collection A LOT in a year. I have also gain some more confidence about speaking about products since being in school, one of the big things is learning to communicate with clients and potential clients.

Wow I can sum up a whole year really quickly huh?

So bummed out!

Well I read some sad news today. (no worries just makeup related) TKB Trading had to discontinue the POP Collection, due to the supplier discontinuing the line. Those are my favorite for mixing, I was waiting for them to come back in stock to order either an ounce or 4 Ounces each. Well I'm hopeful that TKB will find a great replacement

I do love how TKB keeps their customers in the loop and keep everyone posted on items that are out of stock. They are the best!

Never fear makeup lovers I'm sure the ladie at TKB will find a wonderful replacement for the beloved POP Collection

Foundation Fun!

If you have seen me in my video you can tell I'm a shade up from albino. I've always had a hard time finding a foundation to match. Back before my wedding I went into MAC and had a MUA help me to find a color match, NC15 the lowest shade available. I love my MAC foundation, but at almost $30 a bottle, I wanted a more affordable everyday foundation. So.......

Today I was  playing the does this match me game. Well I think all the make up companies need to sit down and figure out what the hell the meaning of Ivory is! Most were way too dark. I check all brands, I wasn't being very picky just wanted a shade to match. I was able to find one to match me perfectly!!! It is Covergirl, Clean 205 in Ivory Sensitive skin. They also had the same shade in Normal and Oily Skin. I have only tried it on my hand so far and I really like the way it feels and covers, a huge plus for me is it appears to be very matte. I don't want to look shiny, glittery yes shiny no.

I also picked up a bunch of lip glosses, mascaras, a new nail polish, and a green corrector for redness. OH OH OH!!! My HUGE TKB Trading order came in too.

I will have so many videos and posts to work on.

So any other ladies out there have issues matching foundations? Maybe a tip or trick??

Stuff I'm working on

Hey Everyone!

I have been battling a cold for the last few days so I'm a little behind on some things I want to post. Have no fear I'm feeling better and hope to get a few reviews posted tonight and tomorrow.

A few things I have been working on are getting pictures of my make-up collection and set up, Pictures of my lovely shoe collection.  I will be writing up a review on the Ott lite make-up mirror - hint I LOVE IT! I also just got my Unii Palettes in today so I will get some info up on those, and when I'm not so stuffed up I will do a video review.

Oh and I have a large TKB Trading order coming in next week. *Squee!!!!*

My TKB Trading Collection

Hello again! Today I will be talking about my TKB Trading Collection. I currently have 62 mica powders from TKB and I am looking to place a very nice sized order from them in the near future. If you aren't familiar with TKB they are a wonderful store that sells wholesale products to make makeup, soap, and candles. Their samples are $1.50 which are either a full tablespoon or a full teaspoon!!! You can't get that in any store!
